What if The Lost Boys met Twilight with a gender twist, under a fast-rising independent director of strong dramas and thrillers? It would give something that looks quite cool but with a German-spoken teaser… Anybody up for a translation? German supernatural thriller We Are the Night (Wir Sind Die Nacht) puts the vampire romance angle in the hands of a lady bloodsucker for what looks to be a very cool spin on its predecessors of the genre.
The press release for the film details the plot as:
The story of Lena, a woman bitten by the leader of a female vampire trio. At first she joins the group and partakes in the nightlife but the blood lust is too much for her taste and she turns away from the girls and finds solace in her love for an undercover police officer inciting the anger of the coven who turn to the chase.
Dennis Gansel directs and wrote the film, following his success with last year’s THE WAVE about a real-life high school teacher whose class experiment in microcosmic dictatorship turns nasty. The film is currently in production with a projected October 2010 release. Hopefully to be translated by then. I’m serious - anybody here for translating that teaser down there? Who doesn’t want to hear her talk about a foursome of sultry vampire ladies?
Thanks to the Quiet Earth bunch for the heads-up.
