Okay, so I’m well aware that a vampire’s main driving force in life is the power of suck…or sucking. 2009 on the other hand, did not suck (as in was not bad) for vampires. In fact, 2009 was pretty much the year of the vampire. The following is a list of vampire highlights from 2009: More »

Apparently, Jonathon Sharkey, otherwise known as the Vampire King, has announced from jail that he’s got plans to run for governor in Minnesota. If you’ll remember from last week, he was sent to jail for threatening to kill a judge and his family. Surprisingly enough, this wouldn’t be the first time he’s considered running for governor. From Girlybubble: I’m cruel to myself sometimes. Just consider the title of this blog post, “Top 10 Cutest Boys of the Year.” With a sea of cute men readily available at my fingertips (not literally, I mean I can Google them), having to narrow down just 10 cute guys has been hard. But do-able! So please, ladies, gentleman…make sure you’re sitting down for this. More »

In addition to Gina Torres, Kelly Hu, James Remar and maybe Taylor Swift, the L-Word’s Mia Kirshner has recently signed on as a recurring cast member on The Vampire Diaries. With the amount of new additions to the cast, it seems that CW means business when it comes to the Vampire Diaries. Kirshner will be playing the role of Isobel, the wife of Alaric Saltzman (Matt Davis), everyone’s favorite history teacher slash vampire slayer. With the addition of Kirshner comes a semi-spoiler and more questions. More »

New York City-based arts & entertainment magazine The Improper recently conducted a poll asking, “Who’s the hottest vampire?” The choices of the poll include Robert Pattinson (New Moon), Alexander Skarsgård (HBO’s True Blood), Taylor Lautner (New Moon) and others. Wait a second…Taylor Lautner? Last time I checked, he played a wolf, not a vampire. Aside from this, one has to ask — why such a small number of poll answer options? More »

Sometimes I ask myself, is it coincidence that one of my favorite bands happens to call themselves Vampire Weekend? I do love vampires, probably just as much as the band Vampire Weekend. Vampire Weekend is an indie rock band hailing from New York City. The name Vampire Weekend is actually from an amateur filmed produced by one of the band members. Ironically, the film doesn’t seem to have anything to do with Vampires. More »

Korean pop music (Kpop) seriously takes the cake when it comes to random. Widely popular Kpop boy group 2PM recently delivered a Korean music awards performance featuring a vampire scene introduction. Being an actual fan of said Kpop boy group, the performance left me scratching my head a little bit. Or a lot. More »

If you’ve been feeling thirsty for a vampire flick that doesn’t involve romance, sparkling or angsty, brooding vampires, look no further. Upcoming Lionsgate film Daybreakers offers an interesting, and kind of humanistic twist on the vampire film. Judging from movie trailers, the state of being vampire seems more of a plague-like condition humans are infected with. In the world of Daybreakers, remaining humans are harvested for blood, but one question arises: What happens when there is no more blood to drink as a result of everyone becoming vampires? More »

The Peninsula Daily is reporting that a Los Angeles production company will be holding castings this week for a reality TV show based on Forks, a Washington city best-known as the main setting of The Twilight Saga books. For this, I’ve only got one word: WHY?! More »

The excitement for New Moon just won’t cease. Proof? A lot of you sunk your fangs into last month’s SwanDiary giveaway of an autographed Justin Chon headshot. The giveaway has ended and I’m happy to announce the winner, but before I do so — please know one thing: Justin Chon may play human Eric Yorkie, but you can’t actually sink your fangs into his headshot. It won’t bleed. More »

About SwanDiary

Swan Diary is an online community dedicated to all things vampire within society's current and past culture. Book series, TV shows, movies... you name it. If it sucks, (in a good way), we'll cover it. Swan Diary is an haven for swans -- not the ugly duckling fairytale swan, but swan as a vampire term for, "Human that loves vampires." However, we have no qualms if you happen to be a vampire who loves humans.
