Personally, I have nothing against the idea of a romanticized vampire, which is a concept much older than Edward Cullen; after all, the first literary vampire was a refined and suave nobleman. But just as old if not even more is the idea that vampires are savage beasts with no shred of humanity but much more akin to a cross between Predator and Colonel Kurtz. Such as the one in upcoming Horror/Action flick King of Vampires.
The film from actor/writer Paul Sloan and mafioso-looking actor/director Nick Vallelonga (I’m not kidding, he was even in Goodfellas so much he has no neck…) introduces a feral hunter who roams the jungle and is the subject of campfire stories told by the locals to keep their children from wandering off. Or for one of them to write a book and make a killer movie deal. In any case, there’s nothing nice and civil to this creature, so fans of hard-edged guts and gore will surely appreciate.
According to the official synopsis:
An heiress enlists mercenaries to search the Cambodian jungle for her long lost brother. The journey down river turns bloody; the jungle is haunted by a savage barbarian warlord, who is rumoured to be Lord Of The Undead: King Of Vampires.
The good folks of Quiet Earth have score a first glimpse at still pics form the movie’s titular boogeyman along with some concept art. Here’s an example right down there, with the rest available to glimpse at OVER HERE. No release date is yet known, but probably will be once distribution deals have been struck.
