Seems quite logical that the current wave of appreciation for all things vampires would reach one of the most popular mediums of the last decade, graphic novels. And like many entries before it, VLAD THE IMPALER uses real-life history to bring a riveting tale of darkness. GOD I sound like a screwed-up Avon salesman…

From author Sid Jacobson and the unfortunately named graphic artist Ernie Colon (…), the book portrays the historical figure known to have inspired Bram Stoker: Vlad III, Prince of Wallachia. His story gets told with probing care for the gritty details of his life and character, from love to torture tactics, with gore to spare for those who dare…

But don’t take MY word for it, listen to what Stan Da Man Lee has to say:

“beautifully and compellingly written and illustrated. . . . It will surely set the standard for all future works of contemporary history, graphic or otherwise”

The book from Hudson Street Press is available for around $30 at any self-respecting bookstore who knows what the heck a graphic novel is. Contrary to the only friggin one in my town. Thank God for online retailers. And free shipping. Relative to how much you bought. Shutting up now.

About SwanDiary

Swan Diary is an online community dedicated to all things vampire within society's current and past culture. Book series, TV shows, movies... you name it. If it sucks, (in a good way), we'll cover it. Swan Diary is an haven for swans -- not the ugly duckling fairytale swan, but swan as a vampire term for, "Human that loves vampires." However, we have no qualms if you happen to be a vampire who loves humans.
