Sometimes I ask myself, is it coincidence that one of my favorite bands happens to call themselves Vampire Weekend? I do love vampires, probably just as much as the band Vampire Weekend. Vampire Weekend is an indie rock band hailing from New York City. The name Vampire Weekend is actually from an amateur filmed produced by one of the band members. Ironically, the film doesn’t seem to have anything to do with Vampires.

If I could describe their music, I would say they’re preppy-indie rock with African influences and rhythms. Yes, sounds awful, but it’s actually amazing. Their latest album Contra will be out Jan. 12. Check out the video for Cousins, the first single released from Contra:

Live in the UK? Well you’re in luck. They’re performing the Isle of Wright Festival alongside Calvin Harris, Spandau Ballet, Friendly Fires, Jay-Z, The Strokes, Blondie, Pink and Orbital.

About SwanDiary

Swan Diary is an online community dedicated to all things vampire within society's current and past culture. Book series, TV shows, movies... you name it. If it sucks, (in a good way), we'll cover it. Swan Diary is an haven for swans -- not the ugly duckling fairytale swan, but swan as a vampire term for, "Human that loves vampires." However, we have no qualms if you happen to be a vampire who loves humans.
