Given all that’s been recently been discussed during the TCA Press Tour and The Vampire Diaries, I’m starting to believe that the CW was really smart in giving The Vampire Diaries’ fans this long block of time prior to the show’s return on Jan. 21. The CW was only making us wait this long to give us time to build up unsettling emotions of anxiety and to come up with a lot of crazy rumors on the Internet. As crazy as this sounds, this isn’t them being cruel to us — it’s all an effort to get us excited for the show’s return. According to the executive producers of the Vampire Diaries, Elena won’t turn into a vampire anytime soon.

According to executive producer Julie Plec the Internet rumors are all fake:

“It’s fake,” insisted executive producer Julie Plec, during the “The Vampire Diaries” panel Saturday at TCA. “It’s completely not even close” to what will happen.

This could be one of few instances out there where a human doesn’t change for vampire-love and it’s refreshing. Especially considering the show’s impressionable teen audience and the message this delivers: You don’t have to change yourself for love.

What do you guys think of Elena not turning into a vampire after all?
