Just when you thought the Twilight Saga had already ended, Stephenie Meyer announces a new vampire book, The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner. Out on June 5, Meyer says the upcoming book is a, “nice complement to ‘Eclipse’,” the third book in the Twilight saga, Meyer writes on her website. “It explains a lot of the things that Bella never knew.” Proceeds from book sales will be donated to the Red Cross! Waiting for HBO’s True Blood season 3 does indeed, suck. Especially given the short promo trailers that have recently hit the net. While not revealing much about what’s in store, these trailers have done the job of getting me excited. More »

Close your eyes and imagine Ryan Gosling as Noah Calhoun in The Notebook. Play that steamy hot kiss scene in the rain in your head. Yes, that one. Now imagine him taking a big fanged bite into Rachel McAdams. Steve Snyder, creator of the American Vampire comic series, is seriously considering Ryan Gosling for a role should the series be turned into a movie. Chances of that happening are quite high — according to the LA Times, Snyder hasn’t stopped receiving love calls from movie producers. More »

The True Blood season 3 promo poster features only a coffee maker brewing fresh blood, but to True Blood fans and coffee drinkers, this speaks volumes. There is much overlap between fans of coffee and True Blood. People are addicted to coffee just as much as vampires are addicted to blood. For most people, including myself — coffee is a driving force in life. It symbolizes sustenance and energy. (When it really shouldn’t because it’s not the healthiest thing.) More »

Brace yourselves yet again, Twihards. An official Eclipse movie poster has been released and it’s looking pretty. Unlike the New Moon posters that suggest the love triangle, this one is lookin’ pretty intense. To add to the drama, the tagline is: IT ALL BEGINS…WITH A CHOICE. More »

Lady Gaga has recently tweeted a picture of her new Vampire grillz and I whole-heartedly approve. Sometimes, I feel like Lady Gaga really understands what I love most in life — vampires, great pop music, latex, bubbles, tea cups, Beyonce, dresses made out of bubbles, sunglasses made out of cigarettes, bras that light on fire, bloody musical performances, the piano….she totally knows what I am all about. Vampires, namely Sesame Street’s The Count have been responsible for teaching American children how to count. How America isn’t the smartest nation in the world when it comes to kids, is beyond me. Without The Count, I couldn’t tell you that I have 8 fingers, or that there are 10 beers in a 6-pack. I owe a lot to The Count.

Given the recent craze for vampires of the dark, brooding, handsome sort a la Edward Cullen there’s one thing I’ve had on my mind lately: Edward Cullen vs. The Count…who would win that fight? More »

A deleted New Moon scene has made its appearance on the Interwebz and sadly, it is without Robert Pattinson’s Edward Cullen character. To get even sadder, it mostly features Victoria as played by Rachel Lefevre reminiscing over the loss of James. More »

If you’ve ever wondered what happened to Buffy the Vampire Slayer’s Nicholas Brendon, despite the cast updates I’ve made, know this: Not much. Unless you count him being arrested yesterday in Venice, CA for drunk and disorderly conduct. According to this report, the 38-year old actor provoked officers into using a stun gun when Brendon allegedly attempted to strike the arresting officers. He was too much of a hassle for the police, so they did indeed tase him. More »

Earlier this year, “vampire” Jonathon Sharkey was sent to jail for threatening to kill a judge then announced that he was running for governor. If that’s not enough crazy, CBS is reporting that he intends on running for president. He has scheduled a Monday press conference in Tampa to announce his plans to file paperwork to run for President of the United States in 2012. He recently switched his party affiliation from Independent to Republican so he can run with the G.O.P. More »

About SwanDiary

Swan Diary is an online community dedicated to all things vampire within society's current and past culture. Book series, TV shows, movies... you name it. If it sucks, (in a good way), we'll cover it. Swan Diary is an haven for swans -- not the ugly duckling fairytale swan, but swan as a vampire term for, "Human that loves vampires." However, we have no qualms if you happen to be a vampire who loves humans.
