In watching True Blood’s first episode of season 3, I learned a few important things: 1) I should’ve done my homework in catching up with what had previously happened at the end of season 2 and 2) I have a hard time remembering things that happened almost a year ago on TV. If you’re just like me Wikipedia does a fine job of recapping season 2’s finale.

The first episode of season 3 picks up exactly where season 2 had ended. Only most of the storylines had one theme in common: Covering up. Aside from Sookie continuing the search for the kidnapped Bill and Sam continuing the search to find his ‘bad’ parents, Jessica tried desperately to cover up that she killed a man, Jason and Andy do the same but for Eggs and Queen Sophie and Eric try their best to cover up the fact that they’re behind all the illegal V activity.

Straying from the overall theme of covering up is Tara. Tara does a great job of being her dramatic, crazed self as she finds out that her ex-lover Eggs has died. Who could blame her? At the same time, the drama was a bit much. There wasn’t a Tara scene in this episode that didn’t show her freaking out. Apparently, she’s on suicide watch now.

Something to not freak out about is Bill. This episode saw him break free of his kidnappers (V drug dealers/vampire drainers), only to end up in werewolf territory. Why yes, HBO is taking True Blood there. From all the trailers and promo teasers, this was inevitable. And as all True Blood episode endings go, this episode ended with a standoff between Bill and the werewolves.

What I Think Will Happen Next: Sookie and Bill will reunite. Jessica will be in big trouble from Bill for killing a man and Hoyt will sense that something is up with her. They might even break up. Sam will meet his deadbeat parents — whether or not it’ll be a disappointing reunion, I have no clue. Lafayette will be in big trouble by Eric and the Queen for not selling all of his V and Tara will continue on in her crazy state.

Pam was so awesome in this episode, even if she only has a minor part in the series. I found it funny when Sookie told Pam that she wasn’t in the mood for her “weird lesbian stuff.” LOL.

lol
well hopefully it will get better - it was only the first ep
but >.< if it doesn’t

About SwanDiary

Swan Diary is an online community dedicated to all things vampire within society's current and past culture. Book series, TV shows, movies... you name it. If it sucks, (in a good way), we'll cover it. Swan Diary is an haven for swans -- not the ugly duckling fairytale swan, but swan as a vampire term for, "Human that loves vampires." However, we have no qualms if you happen to be a vampire who loves humans.
