I’ll admit, I was a bit hesitant to watch Eclipse in theaters. Especially since New Moon didn’t impress me that much with the way it dragged on and felt awkward at times. What motivated me to get myself into Eclipse’s opening day was the fact that I’d invested way too much of my time into the series to give up. After watching Eclipse today, I’m glad I didn’t give up.

First of all, it wasn’t terrible nor was it a great movie. In fact, compared to the first movie and New Moon, I’d say Eclipse is my favorite Twilight film thus far — despite the fact that New Moon is my favorite book out of the series. The acting was a bit better, there was more action and the Jacob vs. Edward tension made for a decently entertaining movie. In terms of Jacob vs. Edward, Jacob stole the show with his wit, shirtless body and even scored a little bit more than Edward did. This isn’t to say that the film won’t appease Team Edward. Eclipse is filled with plenty of swoon-worthy Edward lines and acts. No funny business here, Eclipse for the most part, followed the book closely.

The one comparison I could make between the movie and the book was that the movie did a great job of making all the boring parts of the book, exciting. The Victoria fight, the newborn fight, the Southern Vampire wars and even Riley’s existence in the book were all happenings I found a little boring in words. On screen, it was nothing but action. The action was short and came in waves, but it was still action.

The only qualms I had with Eclipse is that the wigs did not improve much from the previous films, the acting could always be a touch better and it could’ve used more blood and guts. I mean, do vampires really look like pieces of ice and crystal inside? They already sparkle on the outside!

Qualms aside, I am no longer protesting Breaking Dawn’s creation. I can’t wait.

Ah I haven’t seen this yet. I’m excited to watch it though. Aww, they still have a problem with the bad acting? I personally think they chose the wrong people to play Edward and Bella (as much as Kristin is a perfect match for the character in the book, she’s just not a good actress).

my friends told me they liked the movie… and you did too, Jinra
I can’t wait to see this movie ^^

About SwanDiary

Swan Diary is an online community dedicated to all things vampire within society's current and past culture. Book series, TV shows, movies... you name it. If it sucks, (in a good way), we'll cover it. Swan Diary is an haven for swans -- not the ugly duckling fairytale swan, but swan as a vampire term for, "Human that loves vampires." However, we have no qualms if you happen to be a vampire who loves humans.
