Let the Right One In is a 2004 Swedish horror novel written by John Ajvide Lindqvist. Without giving away any spoilers, the plot revolves around a 12-year-old boy named Oskar and a young girl named Eli (who, coincidentally, is a centuries-year-old vampire). Vampire girl Eli promises never to leave Oskar, but her late-night activities soon cause Oskar to be wary and suspcious. After all, what’s a boy supposed to do when his best friend’s a blood-sucking vampire? (And not your typical Twilight vampires, either).
In 2008, director Tomas Alfredson released a Swedish-language film based off the book to widespread critical acclaim and recently, American director Matt Reeves has been creating his own English-language remake of the film with the title, Let Me In to be released sometime in 2010.
While the exact release date is still unknown, the trailer for Let Me In has been released, check it out:
And for comparison’s sake, the original Swedish trailer:
I’m not one for cringe-worthy movies, but the two kids are simply adorable. Will you be watching this when it hits a theater near you?
