What Happened This Week: Hope you all are sitting down for this! In this episode, Russell takes Sookie and Bill to his mansion, where Bill kills one of the bodyguards and attempts to kill Russell. Russell orders Lorena to take Bill to the slaves quarters and kill him. Eric refuses to help Sookie by saving Bill. It’s been revealed that Russell has been curious to know what Sookie is. Jason discovers that Crystal has a fiancĂ©, a bruised face one, but a fiance nonetheless. Sam suspects that his parents are using Tommy for dog fighting matches. Speaking of using, Jesus discovers that Lafayette is a drug dealer and calls things off with him.
Eric accompanies Russell to Sophie-Anne’s mansion where Russell blackmails her into accepting his marriage proposal. Eric disses the Queen by renouncing his loyalty to the Queen and pledging his loyalty to the King of Mississippi. Tara learns that Sookie is at the mansion and devises a plan for them to escape through Sookie’s power to listen to thoughts. Sookie moves in on the slave quarters were a severely tortured Bill is laying, but Lorena keeps her from making the escape an easy one.
There’s only one word I can think of to describe this episode: Crazy. And I guess if I could afford another one, it’d be ‘blood.’ This episode stands out to be the bloodiest, craziest episode of the season. Crazy, as in Tara taking a bite into Franklin as we discover Franklin gets off on being bitten and sucked dry. Instead of getting turned like I’d predicted, Tara goes ahead and does something equally crazy — bashes Franklin in the head repeatedly. The act didn’t seem like a proper way to kill a vamp, but we’ll see if he’ll appear in the next episode to go crazy on Tara.
Lorena pulls a Franklin-like move when she sets out to kill Bill under Russell’s orders. I wasn’t really expecting Lorena to go through with it, but being the sick, twisted vamp that she is — she starts to kill him, slowly. Of course, more blood was involved. I’m beginning to think that blood and gore is one way for HBO to garner ratings. That and guy-on-guy kisses.
Speaking of guy-on-guy kisses, the Lafayette/Jesus interaction put me on one wild rollercoaster. The sweet moments at Merlotte and the kiss in the car had me going, ‘AWWW YEAH GET IT! GET IT!’ And then by the time Jesus dumps Lafayette over drug dealing, I was upset with Jesus in a flash. All of this drama between the two has got me wondering what their relationship is building to. I have a feeling this isn’t the last of Jesus. Or else that would’ve been a waste of our time.
What definitely wasn’t a waste of time was the Jessica action in this episode. How she handles Arlene was simply priceless. I really do hope they keep up the relationship they have.
Speaking of relationships, what is the deal with the Merlotte’s relationship with Sam’s brother? Dog fights, really? That was random.
What’s also random was that this episode was the first episode one of my predictions came true. The prediction being Queen Anne Sofie appearing — I know, I’m on a roll.
What I Think Will Happen Next: We’ll find out what Crystal really is. Alcide will heroically swoop in to save Sookie from Lorena and Bill will escape from Mississippi. Franklin will come back for Tara because I don’t think he was killed properly. Lastly, I think Eric will pull something on us all to make us believe that he’s in love with Sookie. That whole, “You don’t mean a thing to me,” business was just a front.
