True Blood Season 3, Episode 8: Night on the Sun Impressions

What Happened This Week: Sookie awakes from the coma, courtesy of Bill’s blood only to land in splitsville with him. Throughout the episode, they realize that absence does indeed make the heart grow fonder and they get back together. Sophie-Anne officially gets together with Russell as his wife and she moves into the mansion. Tara and Lafayette return back to Bon Temps only to discover that Lafayette’s mother had escaped the looney bin. Her escape ushers the return of her caretaker/Lafayette boy toy, Jesus. Crystal escapes from an abusive situation and comes to Jason’s home seeking refuge. Wanting to protect Crystal, he goes after the abusive brother and father only for it to be confirmed later on by Tommy that Crystal and her family…are something else. Finally, Eric Northman gets his revenge on Russell for killing his family by killing his lover Talbot.

This week’s episode switches gears a little from being bloody to being bloody and awkwardly sexy. (I said ‘a little.’) If a best actor award were to be handed out for the episode, I’d give it to Alexander Skarsgard. I’m not gonna lie, I totally thought he was really going to do it with Talbot and then kill him. Not attempt to do it with him, then kill him. Another moment of awkward sex? The very last scene with Bill and Sookie. I’ve no idea where that’s going to lead into with the next episode, honestly. Especially with Sookie and Alcide revealing that they night be in love with each other. (Team Bill: 0, Team Eric: 0, Team Alcide: 1)

Speaking of in love, Jason is definitely in love with Crystal and it’s a complete change from his character in previous seasons. I’m dying to know what exactly Crystal and her family is. All that’s known is that they love feeding on flesh and they’ve got beef with shapeshifters.

Aside from all this, this episode was somewhat anti-climatic up until the last 10-15 minutes as Debbie comes after Sookie with a pack of wolves out to kill her. Debbie and Sookie both high on V engage in the craziest girl fight, ever. Luckily Bill and Jessica are around fresh from a vamp training session and they pretty much kick wolf butt.

What I Think Will Happen Next Week: We’ll finally find out the mystery of Crystal and her ‘kind.’ A Russell/Eric showdown will happen — how it ends, I have no idea. Also with Sookie and Bill back together, it’ll be as if Alcide didn’t just reveal that he might be in love with her. Hopefully more Jessica too.
