This episode of Vampire Diaries was titled Kill or Be Killed, yet no one was killed. Erm, question mark much? But that’s not to say that this episode wasn’t exciting. There’s nothing we like better than an episode that answers questions…and asks more questions.

Caroline is surprised at her mother’s attempts at being motherly, and we the audience get to see the sheriff in casual clothes for once. I got to say, the sheriff looks pretty feminine in that peach-colored blouse of hers. Stefan comes to offer Mason a truce, which after lots of threatening two-versus-one comments, Mason takes. But not before blabbing to mommy sheriff Liz that Damon and Stefan are vampires. Good going, man. Liz defends her good friend Damon, but Mason insists he can prove it.

Caroline starts questioning Elena again regarding Stefan. I got to say, Elena’s good at acting an acting role. Elena and Stefan have another mock fight while Damon and Caroline eat up every single word. Again, my heart goes out to Damon so much.

Jeremy starts hanging out with used-to-not-be-friends-but-now-maybe-are Tyler, and things go from partying fun to tense awkwardness. Tyler reveals his sketchpad pictures, which, not surprisingly, include wolf pictures. Tyler corners Jeremy, and our smartest non-main character tells Tyler that he knows what Tyler is. Oh, seriously? These two guys basically exchange everything they know, and it seems like Tyler doesn’t trust his uncle. Therefore, he’s withholding the moon stone. The girls come and play come-get-the-moon-stone. Sara falls down the stairs and almost dies. Mason told you so, Tyler. Tyler finally gives Mason the moon stone, and I sit here confused. Why would he do that?

A little girl offers Damon lemonade, which happened to be spiked with vervain. Damon chokes and spits it out, as Sheriff Liz watches from the sidelines. Uh-oh. Caroline sees her mom leaving and becomes suspicious. The Salvatore brothers chase after Mason, but end up getting shot by Liz and her council. The council and Mason bring Stefan and Damon to underground Lockwood cellar, and Liz makes Mason leave.

Caroline and Elena go to find the two brothers (but not before Caroline gives Mason a good feminine vamp whipping). Caroline is faced with the decision to expose herself to her mother, and pretty much gives a parent their worst nightmare. “Hi, mom” is probably the worst way to tell your anti-vampire mother that you’re a vampire. Insert heart-breaking Liz/Caroline mother/daughter moment here, and Damon proves he can keep a friendship (Hear that, Elena?).

By means of cleaning things up, Liz breaks her daughter’s heart by saying “her daughter’s gone.” Damon tells Liz she doesn’t know how wrong she is, and I spazzed in utter Damon-is-so-sweet-and-sensitive-ness. Stefan breaks down because of his not-strong-enough complex and is on the verge of breaking his no-blood diet.

Caroline tells Elena that Katherine has been forcing her to spy on Elena/Stefan, using Matt as hostage. Elena leaves Caroline in Damon’s care, but not before sharing a tender moment with Damon (why is he so caring this episode?). He tells Elena that Stefan didn’t drink the blood, but he should. So obviously the next logical step is for Elena to offer Stefan her blood. Obviously. What was wrong with the blood bags, can someone please tell me?

The last couple of seconds utterly shocked me here, though. The whole reason why Mason was looking for the moon stone? To give it to Katherine. Oh my god, I should’ve seen that coming. Facepalm facepalm facepalm.

Stay tuned for the next episode of Vampire Diaries, Plan B, to air October 21st on the CW, 7/8c.
