To be a house guest at the Salvatore mansion would be such a dream! It’s a beautiful mansion, the Salvatore brothers are sexy as hell (literally) and it’s just jam packed with history. The only way I could think house guest-ism (house guest-ery?) could be a terrible thing is if you’re name is Katherine Pierce. Not a lot of people are celebrating Katherine’s return from the tomb — certainly not Elena or Damon.
Aside from Katherine being incredibly manipulative and shady, both Elena and Damon have beef with her because 1) having Katherine around makes it easy for the curse to happen 2) She lied to Damon about Elijah’s death sealing Katherine in the tomb forever and the whole dagger that kills the vampire that uses it deal.
Elijah in this episode — still dead but just barely. Luka and Jonas’ plan was to raise Elijah from the dead and have Elijah kill Stefan and Damon. How do you raise an original vampire from the dead? Lift the dagger through a Wiccan Ritual — it was kinda like sending an invisible Luka to the Salvatore mansion to remove the dagger. That plan was foiled quickly as Damon realized the commotion in the dungeon caused by Luka. Damon lit Luka’s ritual being on fire with a flamethrower which caused the real Luka performing the ritual at home with Jonas to burn and die. Peacemaker Stefan then proceeds to Jonas’ and Lukas’ home to make peace. Sadly, by the time he gets there, it’s too late. Jonas is resolved in getting revenge on Damon and Stefan by killing Elena.
Naturally as with any Vampire Diaries episode, the Kill Elena mission starts at some sort of an event — only, it’s not a school-related event! Elena, Caroline and Bonnie do girls’ night at the Mystic Falls Grill for live band night. Jonas being the badass warlock arrives and starts bringing on a massacre by exploding the lights and causing a fire. Bonnie tries to stop him, but sadly the fact that she’s powerless doesn’t help the situation much. Matt tries to help her, but Jonas takes a broken glass and stabs Matt in the neck. Caroline heals Matt with her Vampire blood. This all happens as Stefan and Damon whisk Elena back to the safety of the Gilbert house.
…only that’s not Elena that comes home. Obviously the first thing Jonas would do after massacre-ing the grill is come and hide out at the Gilbert house. Instead of attacking Elena at home, he attacks Katherine who ends up killing Jonas. Both Jonas and Luka are dead in this episode — madness! Then it gets even crazier as Bonnie reaches out to close his eyes, he jumps from the dead to attack her. My heart literally jumps at this. Stefan reaches out and breaks his neck. While this may seem like an attack to the viewer, we find out that Jonas has restored Bonnie’s powers. Bonnie now knows how to kill Klaus as a result.
Matt fully recovers, and Caroline tells him the truth about everything. Matt in panic, quickly blames her for the death of his sister and runs away from Caroline. To add on to the disappointment, Alaric confesses that he loves Jenna but Jenna coldheartedly bids him goodnight.
The episode ends with Jenna answering the door to Isobel. What does she have up her sleeves? We’ll find out next week.
