What was really the Season 2 finale of The Vampire Diaries was actually just the first episode of season 3. Well, not really but it sure felt that way. For one, everything that the show has been building up to in the past two years was settled in the previous episode. The function of the season 2 finale of The Vampire Diaries was really just to set up the next season. With that said reader, tread cautiously through this post — spoilers abound!
The biggest drama of the season finale was focused on Damon and his wolf bite conundrum. Stefan, being the younger, caring brother seeks out Klaus for a solution. Klaus, the not-so-caring brother of Elijah, kills Elijah after he tells him that he was just lying about his family being alive still. Stefan discovers that the antidote to keep Damon alive is Klaus’ very own vamp/wolf hybrid blood. Klaus of course, wouldn’t give it up so easily. In exchange for Klaus’ blood, Klaus asks Stefan to join him. Join, not like you would a Costco Membership but by making Stefan drink blood. Stefan downs each IV pouch of blood and we see a new, savage side of Stefan. Stefan ultimately seals the deal with Klaus by attacking a…human. (!!!)
As Damon is awaiting his final days as a vampire, Elena is at his side. Damon confesses his love to Elena and they kiss. The antidote shows up, and Damon is healed. Mmmhmm. All this while Stefan has turned bad. I smell a Damon/Elena romance for the next season.
In another part of town, Sheriff Forbes decides to seek (and kill) Damon. In the process, Jeremy is killed instead. Bonnie puts the witch moves on Jeremy to bring him back to life by channeling the 100 witches. Not too keen on the idea, the witches allow Bonnie to bring him back but with a consequence.
We’re not sure what the “consequence” is, but in the final scene of the finale it’s pretty clear:
Jeremy can see dead people vampires.
Anyone watch the season finale? Thoughts?
