Cover art for IDW’s 2nd issue of the Official True Blood comic book series was released recently. Although the series is picking up from the very beginning of the True Blood story, I feel like this cover is trying to tell us something. More »

Vampires, namely Sesame Street’s The Count have been responsible for teaching American children how to count. How America isn’t the smartest nation in the world when it comes to kids, is beyond me. Without The Count, I couldn’t tell you that I have 8 fingers, or that there are 10 beers in a 6-pack. I owe a lot to The Count.
Given the recent craze for vampires of the dark, brooding, handsome sort a la Edward Cullen there’s one thing I’ve had on my mind lately: Edward Cullen vs. The Count…who would win that fight? More »

As a full-fledged swan, I was not born into this world with a vampire name. What’s a swan to do? Turn to The Vampire Name Generator of course! While it seems like a waste of e-space, I’ll have you know that according to the site, it’s pretty useful if you need a name for gothic role playing games like White Wolf’s Vampire: The Requiem, and Vampire: The Masquerade, and also the Buffy the Vampire Slayer RPG. Sadly, the name I got is slightly underwhelming. More »

The upcoming Bluewater Comics’ “Fame: Robert Pattinson” comic book is yet another item on my list of “Things That Aren’t Really Necessary in Life.” E! reports that this comic book will chronicle our beloved bed-head’s rise from obscurity into handsome, brooding, sparkling vampire character notoriety. Granted, I love R-Pattz with every ounce of my being but I don’t think he’s all that worthy of an actual comic book. Michelle Obama, Lady Gaga has one…what do you people think? Worthy of a comic? New York City-based arts & entertainment magazine The Improper recently conducted a poll asking, “Who’s the hottest vampire?” The choices of the poll include Robert Pattinson (New Moon), Alexander Skarsgård (HBO’s True Blood), Taylor Lautner (New Moon) and others. Wait a second…Taylor Lautner? Last time I checked, he played a wolf, not a vampire. Aside from this, one has to ask — why such a small number of poll answer options? More »

The Peninsula Daily is reporting that a Los Angeles production company will be holding castings this week for a reality TV show based on Forks, a Washington city best-known as the main setting of The Twilight Saga books. For this, I’ve only got one word: WHY?! More »

Younger generations and folks who weren’t watching American public television in the 70s are in for quite a treat, while others will surely smile at the memory: A singing vampire who sucks the juice out of vegetables instead of necks, and likes to take a bath in caskets (but his shower in a grave!)… Although that’s not even the doozy: it’s the Oscar-winning actor who played him! Now that you’ve spent the last of your paycheck on that perfect gift for that “sucker” in your life, it’s time to turn your wallet toward looking your tastiest for that bloody Christmas party. ‘Cause you’ll never get a second chance to make a last impression… More »

For some, mixing the Vampire genre means adding werewolves to the fold, but for quirky Canadian filmmaker Rob Stefaniuk it means rock ‘n roll vampire musical dark-comedy road movie. and if that’s not crazy enough, insert a supporting cast comprised of Alice Cooper, Iggy Pop, Moby, Henry Rollins and Malcolm McDowell. That’s only part of the insanity called SUCK. More »

So you guys already know Dreamworks is remaking the 1985 cult-classic Fright Night, right? I’m usually against remakes, but I have to say this one might shape up to be something I can’t wait to see, ’cause it sounds wonderfully screwed up! Here’s why. More »
