Last year rumors of Robert Downey Jr. being cast into the Interview with the Vampire remake movie circulated. It wasn’t until recently at an Iron Man 2 press junket did the RDJ get to address those rumors. When it comes to powerful female vampire characters, I feel like they’re the Conan O’Briens of vampire pop culture. While they do exist, it’s rare that we pay a significant amount of attention to these strong female vampires because it seems we’re currently being “glamored” or “dazzled” by the handsome, brooding (and sparkling) vampires that are stealing the show. I serve to remind you all that there are great female vampires that do more than just be sexy and sparkle. It’s tough being a commercial vampire. Due to the current society we live in today and all the new technology that comes along with it, being a vampire just isn’t enough it seems. You have to be attractive, show off a caring attitude for humanity by refraining from human blood and you have to sparkle and out-queer each other. More »
